Plaza de Toros

08 Abr 2023

Plaza de Toros also called the bullfight arena of the city. And then I see you thinking, are they still doing that here? Yes, in the period from April to October there is a bullfight every week. Let it be just April now and the season has begun!

Plaza de toros is the bulls fighting arena of the city of Seville. The arena was built in the 18th century. In 1881 it was further finished and since then the arena has been used as bulls fighting arena.

In this arena, sun will fit 12,000 people. According to connoisseurs, it is the most beautiful and also most prestigious arena in Spain. Plaza de Toros consists of two parts, the gateway where the successful bullfighters leave the arena and the lodge where the Spanish royal family may sit. In the arena is also a chapel built here the bullfighters pray before they take on the fight. This chappel can be seen from closeby when visiting the arena! More about this below.

The bulls fight arena also has a museum. If you don't want to see bullfighting with your own eyes, but you're interested in bullfighting. Then there's a museum you can visit. We also pass by with our daily tour. If you have any more questions about the bullfighting, ask one of our guides.

This Saturday is the first bullfight of the season. During this competition, 6 bulls will be entering the ring with torero-and-bulls. A game therefore takes about 3 hours. So take that into account. There is a big difference between the tickets in the shade and in the sun. You can often buy tickets at the arena but tickets are also available online.

It is about a 10 min walk from the old city center. But you can also easily get to plaza de toros by bus. The line you need is 03, 21, 40 and C4.
